Bruno Pwns Everybody

Posted by djocean on July 10, 2008

Is there anyone Bruno can’t fool? Sacha Baron Cohen’s new movie character apparently has no problem getting the best of people, having recently duped a former high-ranking member of the Israeli Mossad and a whole arena full of people in Little Rock, Arkansas.

While in character, Cohen fooled former spy and political analyst Yosi Alpher by asking him to participate in a documentary that would teach the world’s youth about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In Little Rock, Cohen and company put on a big cage fighting match in which the end result had two fighters making out with one-another. The audience got so mad that they started throwing beers at the ring.

I can’t wait for this movie.

Angels Are All Around Us

Posted by djocean on July 10, 2008

If there are such things as angels, hope that they are organised along the lines of the Mafia.

Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. The Sirens of Titan

You don’t have to be religious to believe in angels. They are all around us. They are our teachers, our firefighters, our doctors, our friends, our relatives, our children, even our pets. In essence, they are anyone or anything that touches our heart and makes our time on this planet a little bit easier. They should be cherished because in this life, they are the selfless and loving examples of just how amazing the human experience can be. A person surrounded by angels like these is truly wealthier than the lonely man who has all the riches in the world.

These examples of honest perfection come into our lives for a reason. They teach us in many ways through their actions and words and allow us to begin to understand what it really takes to be a good person. They are our reflections in the mirror of life, whose goal is to help us to become the best we can be. They don’t have harsh words or abusive tactics. They don’t lie and demand things that aren’t necessary. They aren’t after us for our possessions. In the end, they don’t want anything from us but a smile and some understanding. They have put been put in our path so that we can learn from them and find the angels in ourselves.

Pay attention to these shining examples of the universe’s beauty, because they are all around you. Everything (and everyone) has some kind of value and some sort of wisdom to provide. Just don’t expect these examples to tailor their lessons to your needs. You have to be willing to genuinely look at your interactions actions and apply your experiences and knowledge. It is only then that you can find out what is really being shown to you.

In other words, you have to look and listen to what is being said and what is being presented to you in order to really understand the inherent beauty that is right in front of your eyes. You have to play an active role in these types of relationships, because it takes a little work to turn piece of coal into a flawless diamond.

Jay-Z + Glastonbury = A Wonderwall of Sales

Posted by djocean on July 10, 2008

Jay-Z’s recent headlining performance at the Glastonbury festival blew away the predominantly European audience and has sparked a strong increase in sales for a number of songs from his music catalog. After performing at the festival, the former Def Jam label head is once again stacking chips thanks to his recent boost in popularity.

According to a recent Reuters article, five of Jay-Z’s old songs are going to re-enter the HMV charts with hits such as “Big Pimpin,” “99 Problems,” and a “Hard Knock Life” showning dramatic increases in sales. In addittion, Jay-Z’s “The Black Album” registered a 480 percent increase in sales.

After being dissed by rocker Noel Gallagher of Oasis because he felt Jay-Z was a bad choice by Glastonbury staff, the superstar lyricist dropped a special treat for the festival crowd when he kicked lyrics to Oasis’ hit song “Wonderwall.” Ironically, Wonderwall saw an 18 percent sales increase after “Hova” dropped his version.
