Sherlock Holmes Has New Life Thanks to Guy Ritchie and Robert Downey Jr.

Posted by djocean on July 15, 2008

Guy Ritchie is currently getting a lot of press because of his relationship with media lightening rod Madonna, but despite all of the negative attention, there is a good chance that he may finally be able to shake the proverbial monkey off his back (by directing a profitable movie) with an upcoming film project.

Ritchie is set to direct Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr. in the Warner Brothers project currently called “Sherlock Holmes.” Unlike Columbia’s upcoming comedy on the English Sleuth featuring Sacha Baron Cohen/Will Ferrell, this version of the famed detective’s story portrays the hero as more adventurous than past incarnations. Think Indiana Jones meets 007.

The film starts shooting in the fall and the studios has suggested a release date of October 2009.

Jill Scott and Wyclef Jean at Central Park SummerStage

Posted by djocean on July 15, 2008

R & B singer/soul diva Jill Scott will be headlining the Central Park SummerState benefit on August 12, 2008. Part jazz singer, part songwriter, part actress, part poet, one thing is for certain, Scott is all woman and she sings with a deep passion that comes across in her blazing vocals. Having won three Grammy Awards, Scott has received praises from both the music industry, the press, and possibly the most important group, the public. This platinum record selling artist is definitely a must see.

Joining Scott on the Central Park SummerStage is Wyclef Jean. This hip hop aficionado has transcended the sounds of traditional rap music as part of the Fugees, broken racial boundaries with Shakira, and played his heart out in front the masses night after night while on tour. Possibly one of the most energetic voices to take the stage, Wyclef brings the sounds of the Brazilian Carnival right to the door step of attending audiences and he does an excellent job of getting crowds going.

The show runs from 7:30-10:00 pm.

Walking With Greatness

Posted by djocean on July 15, 2008

In order to be great, you have to study the great.

Ladainian Tomilson (L.T.)

So you want to know how to live the way other people only dream of? The first step toward making this happen is getting off your butt and do some research on the people who have walked this path before you. They became successful at whatever they did because they followed certain guidlines and principals, many of which are now available to you via the Internet or through books. In the past, it could take a lifetime to learn what the great teachers taught, but with technology propelling the human mind forward as fast as it is, you now have instant access to multiple paths to enlightenment and success.

The second step to becoming the master of your existence is to make a list of who you admire and then find out who they admired. Examine what your inspiration’s inspirations had to say. Learn from the various styles and ideas that motivated these noble and colorful people. Take what works for you and leave the rest. Assimilate their philosophies and ideas with yours and begin to stir the gumbo of personality that will have people admiring you and your attitudes on life.

Although it may take a little work on your part, the reward of this information will help you in several ways.

1) You will grow stronger by seeing examples of people who have achieved success. Things are always easier to accomplish when you know others have done it as well.

2) You will begin to believe that you can do whatever you set your mind to, because you will understand that the people you admire are exactly that, people who are just like you. See what they accomplished and use it to stay inspired.

3) You will understand what it takes to be a winner if you take action. Many of society’s greatest individual’s have willingly tried to pass on the secrets they have learned about success. You will succeed if you learn to train like the best.

4) You will be one step closer to accomplishing your dreams. In order to beat the game, you have to understand how to play the game. In other words, if you do the math, eventually things will add up and doors that were once closed to you will now be open. It’s like playing with dominoes. Knock one down and they’ll all fall sooner or later. So it is with life.
