According to a recent AFP article, a company called the Blitz Gaming Group has put together a series of video games depicting emergency scenarios that require a player to make a multitude of decisions in a high stress situation.
Developed by the group in Coventry, England, this ‘virtual crisis’ game is used to train emergency service workers. A growing sector in the video game industry, “Triage Training” is another logical step in the technological revolution and the game could helps save lives in the future.
I can remember dropping in on one of the college classes my mother taught in 1984 and coming across a game they used to teach their journalism students how to cover a disaster. Although it didn’t have graphics, it was a pretty cool game that helped get me interested in writing. I hope that this new game can pique some kids interest and help them save the world.

My favorite reality television show creator is now facing a lawsuit from his former partner. Survivor’s Mark Burnett is being sued for $70 million by former colleague Conrad Riggs.
According to Riggs’ lawsuit, Burnett agreed to pay him 10 percent of his future profits. Trying to break into television, Burnett supposedly sought the advice of Riggs and has publicly acknowledged Riggs’ numerous contributions.
According to a recent Reutuers article, the lawsuit also says that Riggs was the one who advised Burnet to pitch the show as thought it was a story being told around the campfire. Apparently, Burnett had recently cut Riggs out of possible financial revenue that would come from the potential sale of Burnett’s company.
Forgive me for writing this, but I couldn’t resist. Will Burnett be able to out think, outwit, outlast Riggs? There can be only one Survivor. Stay tuned.

The most celebrated gangsta rap record label sold recently for $24 million. The label that spawned such hits records as “Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic,” Tupac Shukaur’s “All Eyez On Me,” and Snoop Dogg’s “Doggystyle,” is now owned by Global Music Group. Picked up at a bankruptcy auction, the once proud label is now a new toy for a relatively unknown music company.
Death Row’s past owner, Suge “I got knocked out with one punch” Knight was forced to file for bankruptcy when the label collapsed. Loaded with debt, a federal judge appointed a bankruptcy trustee to take over the label and ready it for auction.
According to Global Music CEO Anthony Davi Jr., the label is going to try and find the most profitable ways to use the vault of rap tunes and that they should have an announcement soon.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Karma can be a real bitch. Live like a thug and you stay broke like one too.
