It’s okay to be crazy, but don’t be insane.
Sean “Diddy” Combs
Part of life is pushing your limits and breaking new ground, but this doesn’t mean you take things to ridiculous levels. We all have the tendency to want more than we necessarily need and we should try to remain vigilante in the face of excess rather than succumb to desires that make us act like primal animals. You can walk on the wild side, but you also need to know when enough is enough.
Because we can control our thoughts, there is no excuse for allowing things to get out of hand. We need to be considerate of ourselves and those around us when we decide to let loose. We need to take into account that everyone thinks differently and that what might seem normal to us, may be an extreme to another. Remember to dance like no one is watching, but always keep things in check.
In essence, you can live a life full of adventure and risk-taking without sacrificing their principals. A person is measured more by their actions than by their image, and if your actions are honest and noble, so is your image. You can always take it to the limit, just do it with class and honor. Respect yourself enough to know when you’ve had enough.
Self-respect comes through achieving self-discipline and we must all strive to push the limits when it comes to living life. Just remember to respect those around you the way you wish to be respected.

Last year I got to check out Rock the Bells thanks to some friends in Jedi Mind Tricks. My wife and I packed up the ride and took off to the California gig near Chula Vista. The show was sick and I got to see some of my favorite hip hop legends perform and the guys in Jedi tore it up.
Rock the Bells is once again bringing a number of concert venues the best in hip hop. Headlining acts on this year’s tour include A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Method Man, Raekwon, De La Soul, Redman, Ghostface Killah, Immortal Technique, Rakim, and a host of others including my favorite Philly kids from Jedi Mind Tricks.
August 2 – Miami, FL. – Bayfront Park Amphitheatre
August 3 – Long Island, NY – Jones Beach Theatre
August 9 – San Bernardino, Ca – Glen Helen Pavilion
August 16 – San Francisco, CA – Shoreline Amphitheatre
August 23 – Denver, CO – Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre
Sept 6 – George, WA – The Gorge Amphitheatre

One of the dance music community’s leading DJs is making an appearance at my favorite N.Y. City hotspot, Cielo. The club will be open from 10PM-4AM and it will be a barn-burner as Steve Lawler graces the decks. This will be a hot night and the folks lucky enough to see this one will walk away drained, but satisfied. Lawler’s high-energy sets have rocked numerous people around the world and the fact that he’s playing at a club as small as Cielo is truly a cool thing. Friday August 8, 2009 people. Don’t sleep on this one. You can get tickets at Ticketweb.com for $15. That’s pretty god-damn cheap for that much entertainment.
