Morpheus to Fight Crime On CSI

One of my favorite movie actors is taking his act to the small screen as uber-actor extraordinaire Laurence Fishburne joins the cast of crime drama CSI.
Fishburne, who got his start acting in Apocalypse Now, has had a slew of leading roles including Othello and Morhpeus of the Matrix trilogy. On CSI, Fishburne wil play a forensics investigator with some disturbing habits that are the same characteristics of the killers he chases.
Averaging 17 million viewers an episode, the arrival of Fishburne to the acting team signals the show is far from the death knell and in fact, it may very well be hitting its prime. The third-most watched show on the air, the people (not to mention CBS) behind CSI are banking that the added star power could push them back to the top of the ratings.
To be honest, I’ve avoided watching CSI, because I get enough drama when I read Drudge Report. This is now going to change thanks to the addition of Fishburne to the cast.
New CSI episodes begin shooting next month.

You know I hate to see William Petersen leave the show because he’s such a quirky character. However, I think Laurence Fishburn will be an excellent replacement. Apocalypse Now, Boyz n the Hood, What’s Love Got to Do with It?, Searching for Bobby Fischer, Just Cause, The Tuskegee Airment, Othello, Miss Evers’ Boys, The Matrix, Mystic River, Akeelah and the Bee, Mission Impossible III, 21. How can you beat credits like that?
