Leguizamo’s “Shoes” Are Made for Walking

John Lequizamo is usually hit or miss. Either he nails a part perfectly or he goes down in flames over-acting. Despite his extreme tendencies, when he is on, he is one of the best actors of his generation and he can make a small part seem like the biggest role. In addition, his stand-up is unbelievable. During his shows, the guy has so much energy that he reminds me of someone cracked out on speed.
Why am I telling you this? IFC Films has acquired the rights to the Leguizamo-starring “Where God Left His Shoes.” A tender film by Salvatore Stabile, the story follows an ex-boxer and his family as they have to move in to a home-less shelter. After continuing to struggle, on Christmas Day, the father takes his step-son and goes looking to find a job that would qualify them to living in a housing project apartment.
Although this sounds like a tear-jerker, I’ll probably check this one out. The film will be release theatrically and on VOD in December and will later be distributed through IFC’s exclusive deal with Blockbuster.
